Petit Trianon - Program 5

Bach and the Consequences
There are many parallels in the lives of these two giants of the classic style: both cultivated an extremely independent musical language, which carried on developing during their lives without falling into the trap of popularising their music according to the taste of the time. Both worked faithfully for many years for the aristocracy and their creative centre was chamber music. In the programme's imagined encounter, idiosyncracies of their works become evident during their comparison.

Works by Johann Sebastian, Christian, Emanuel and Friedemann Bach, Krebs and Kirnberger
